Like most electrical problems in cars, check for a bad ground where the dash negative connects to the car body. Bad ground problems are like 90 percent of these problems. My brothers VW van kept going through clutch cables and it turned out to be a bad engine to body ground and the starter was grounding through the clutch cable and burning it up

yes it could be a groud wire or something or the other, but most likely it'll be the fuse check your fuses...
