ha....I actually have the same question on a homework assignment! It's because the moon rotates at the same speed it revolves...27.3 days. Since we also rotate, we always see the same side.

It is a process called tidal locking.

Our moon is gravitationally bound to our planet. Over time, the rotational energy of the moon has been slowed down so that now it rotates once for every revolution around the earth.

The same process is working on our planet. Every day the earth slows down a fraction of a second because of the tidal drag of the moon. Eventually, our earth/moon system will resemble the Pluto/Charon system in that from the moon, we'll see the same side of earth.

Because there is a big string attached to one of the idols on Easter Island that's anchored to a mountain peak on the moon. So the moons face can never change towards the earth. Its kinda like the earth is swinging as in Olympic Hammer Throwing

Ummm not! ;)

because the moon orbits the earth but does not 'spin' on an axis, that is why we only see the same side -- because the same side always faces the earth.
try it with a golf ball and a tennis ball, you'll see.

The moon is tidally locked in synchronous orbit to the earth. It revolves in its orbit at the same rate that it turns on its axis.

Done.

orbital velocity=rotation velocity=27.3 days.
Therefore the moon always has the same face towards the earth.
