I doubt it as they are not married but I am not exactly sure what the laws are... you need to really ask a person who does taxes and they may be answer this question for you.

No they can't, they are not married. A couple has to be married in order to be able to file a joint return.

Nope, you must either be married, or qualified as common law married to do this.
