I was reading up on this after I read your question and I found a website you might think about reading. I had no idea what a whooping cough was, so I thought I would share with you the information that I found

Very contagious. It is transmitted through droplets in the air so if you have been within a metre of the woman in your office you could have caught it. She can actually pass it on to you even before she developed symptoms herself.
2 things you should do:
- If your baby starts to develop any cold symptoms take them to the doctor or hospital and get them to screen her for purtussis (very easy to do...they just take a aspirate from her nose using a little sucker) Even if she hasn't got the "whoop" yet...the infection may start out like a cold so if she has cold symptoms take her.
-get yourself vaccinated. (so long as you are well at the moment)

my daughter aged 11 got whooping cough last year even though she was immunised as a baby.what i didn't know was that the imm only lasts until age 12 but docs dont re vaccinate because they say the childs immune system should work.its also known as the 60 day cough by the chinese and i can tell you it was three months at least before she stopped coughing and being sick
i think the lady is being very responsible by not coming into work

Shots don't guarantee that your child won't get it. My best friend had her son immunized for chicken pox but he still got them. If a child has whooping cough or measles or anything like that at school they are sent home and are not allowed to come back till they are better. This is because the shots don't fully protect you. I would not get near her and I don't blame her for not coming in. I didn't immunize my daughter for whooping cough because of the side affects that could happen are worse than the disease itself. She isn't immunized for Polio either. But the shot changed so she may get it now if I can find out about it. anyways yeah be careful...
And JADE just so you know shots are not mandatory not everywhere and in fact I don't think they are mandatory at all in any state, but I am not sure on this. Anyways kids who are not immunized can go to public school parents just have to sign a waiver.

I don't know if it's contagious, but if your baby is immunised then I don't think you have to worry. If she isn't then you should probably asked her or his doctor this queston.

I heard that it is very contagious and dangerous for babies if they get it... not so dangerous for healthy adults.
