If you need a truck, get a truck. Otherwise, just go with the mustang.

First of all, compairing a truck to a sports car is like comparing apples to oranges.

Is this 16 year old someone who is into trucks, or cars? Are they going to be carrying several people often? What engine does the Mustang have (If it's the 3.8 V-6, you won't have to worry about speeding tickets, that's for sure)

The dodge ram 1500Quad for this 16 year old. This vehicle is much slower and offers much more safety for a non-experienced driver. The Insurance is lower the repairs are not as costly. Having a truck offers the family many uses too.

Go for the truck if you pull a load, or need the carring capacity. The mustang has more pizazz if you are going to the beach or on a date. I love my Dodge truck, and use it just like a car, and get just as good a mileage as my friends mustang gt.

Go with the truck - lower insurance, lower cost of maintenance and repairs, and when he does crash he will crash at a much lower speed AND be protected by a heavy truck frame
