I am not a man, but I am a mother of a boy, so I would like to voice my opinion in this matter.
I think you should have your son circumsized. It is a lot better than not being at all. My son was circumsized a day after he was born. I am sure that it was painful for him but I am glad that it was done early that way he would forget the pain. My cousin didn't have her son circumsized when he was born b/c he was part Mexican and their beliefs state that they do not circumsize the boys. My point is, she had to have him circumsized later on b/c he got infection from not having his genitals cleaned very well(you know, pulling the skin back to clean). She put her son in a lot of pain that could have been prevented early on.
That is just a decision that you alone will have to make. It just depends on how well you clean the area if you don't.

I am a mother of 4 children and I have 3 sons, I had all my sons circumsized. That is the best thing that you can do for your son.. I recently had a baby boy, he is 3mth's and he was circumsized, the doctor did a great job. Yes, he was in pain for a few days but it goes away. I would say by 2 weeks he was fine...
My opinion is go for it because he will benefit from it in the future...
Good Luck too you!!!

I'm not a man, but my father was not circumsized until after he and my mother were married. He told me that he wishes he had been circumsized as a baby b/c having foreskin was a bad experience for him. He and my mother passed a yeast infection back and forth for months; he could not use condoms as it was painful and keeping the area clean is more difficult. He was finally circumsized at the age of 30 and will tell anyone he can to have their baby boy circumsized so they don't have to deal w/ these problems as adults. Hope this helps you!

I had my son circumsized and I think that it was the right choice. It is alot more sanitary for the child and it does not hold bacteria as much as an uncircumsized penis. How old is your son?? I had my son's done at birth and it didn't seem to hurt him. The doctor took him and in 10 minutes he was back and not crying at all. We had to keep the area clean and it healed in about a week or less. If he is older, I would ask the pediatrician what the pain ratio is.

Was your husband or partner circumcised? Usually if the dad is, the kid is. Some people get their baby circumcised because of the beliefs, some because of "locker room", some because of hygiene. I got my son circumcised. The hospital didn't do it at birth, ( I don't know why they didn't do them at the hospital. I asked and they said they no longer did them there) I had to make an appt and go to the pediatrician. He said up until a month, he would do it. The longer you wait, the more difficult and more painful it would be. So I got an appt asap. ( you know doctors...was three weeks) The doctor and nurse took him and gave him a shot to numb. When we got him back, he was crying still, I held him and fed him and he slept on the way home. Afterwards we doubled up the diapers( to make it more comfortable) some doctors will give you gaze that has vaseline on it( to change when you change him) Yes, it is stressful to see your baby like that. When your baby gets shots, gets blood taken, it hurts you too. If I had another boy, I still would get him circumcised. It is up to you what you want to do.

I think it's important for the child to look like their father. If dad is in the picture and will be helping with the potty training, then it's important for the child to look like the father. (In my opinion.)
Medically speaking there are several theories on this.
1 - If your child were to develop a recurrent infection that would require a circumcision, then getting one as a child would be more traumatic. But in defense if the child is taught proper cleaning technique, then it shouldn't become an issue.
2 - Most hospitals use a numbing cream (that's what our hospital uses.) Other hospitals also use an injection to numb.
3 - Look into what your insurance covers. Medicare/Medicaid no longer covers circumcision. Other insurance companies are no longer covering it as well. In my area, the drs charge $300-$400 for the procedure.
What ever your decision is, I wish you a happy and healthy baby.

I am the mother of a 3 year old boy. I chose not to circumcise him for the following reasons: Studies now show that there is hardly a risk for infection... it should be cleaned properly down there either way. The decision of not circumcising is around 40% for new born babies. With that said, maybe boys won't wonder why they don't look like their buddies. And yes, people are going to give their opinions and for this topic they can be very strong opinions. Good Luck.

The reason that baby boys were circumcised was because of cleanliness. It was done on the eighth day after the baby's birth, for some reason this is the best day according to Jewish customs. I say if you think it will help him in the long run then yes do it. It will heal quickly and then he won't have to worry about infections and things like that. I don't think it is barbaric really and I think that there is a reason to it. anyways here is a link http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/system/surgical/circumcision.html
hopefully this can hep you.

Don't do it!
This is an antiquated tradition that has no medical basis. If you clean your child, they will not get any infections. We are horrified at the news stories of female circumcision in Africa, yet we do the same thing to the boys in our country without batting an eye.
To get a complete understanding of this procedure, watch Penn & Teller's Bullshit season 3. The very first episode was on circumsicion. It will open your eyes.

Well that would depend on his age. A newborn definitely (and won't really feel much pain). A 14 yr old might react a little differently.
Unless you're afraid of another Nazi invasion, I don't see why you wouldn't have it done. There are more complications with men later on in life with people who didn't get circumcised
