i am 18. i just got fired for stealing about 15$ of alcohol. i also helped my friend steal some and he is 17 (a minor). i ended up paying for everything and settled with my boss and he agreed to not press any charges or contact the cops over it. my stepmother has not acted very warm-heartedly over this. is she actually capable of getting me in trouble with the cops, and possibly to court and so on? for this i don't think it matters too much, but i live in montana. thanks a bunch

She doesn't have the right to say anything...she wasn't a part of the "bust" you were involved with... Only your boss holds the evidence against you, not that wicked step-mom...It would be her word against yours....sounds to me that she is wickedly crude. This also sounds like she might've been just trying to "Scare you straight". Especially over something that wasn't like GRAND THEFT...but a petty larceny issue. If she threatens you again, you're eighteen...start working on moving out on your own. Maybe that's what she wants...The step-mom is someone that is really not happy about some things in life, if she threatened you, then she is not one for you to be around...nothing you can do about her feelings all the time, but she has no right to meddle into your affairs outside of her house as an adult! (but remember, if you're living in the same house as she...she still has power over you like your father, inside that house and the land its on)...But, YOU ARE 18!!! LEGAL!!!! (except for the drinking part, of course...) if you were a minor, then it would be a case, because she is more likely considered a step-parent or even a guardian, she would definitely have the right to turn your butt in to the jailhouse for any kind of misconduct you commit...I'd tell your father that you know you were wrong and maybe didn't intentionally mean any harm...but it was an experience you learned from, unfortunately, the hard way. You need to smarten up and get wise, you're heading into adulthood and there are tons of responsibilities as an adult!!! Start being aware of them and don't put yourself into a negative situation as you've already done. Let this learning experience be a lesson learned. You don't need to steal anything...you got busted, it will happen again if you continue...truth always comes to surface, NO MATTER WHAT!!!!

Due to the amount of the tranaction in most all states it would be considered a misdemeanor and would require greater action from your former boss in order for actions to be pursued. The person who would have been at teh greatest risk for criminal liability is actually the store owner had he not done anything about the infraction. Finally think before you act, what sounds cool on a couch can quickly spiral out of control especially since you are an adult and it stays on your record usually for the better part of your life.

Your stepmom sounds like shes loopy. Justdave, basically recover from it. Even the guy they stole the liquor from has controlled to recover from it. Thats the sh*tiest reason i've got ever heard of to induce sending somebody into the defense force... in certainty it very almost looks insulting... we could make a defense force out of petty criminals!!! that is going to likely be the final military ever!!! human beings make blunders, human beings would be defective at circumstances. the guy might desire to no longer be THAT undesirable in any different case i've got self belief his supervisor might have called the cops

I don't think she has the ability to press any of these issues, but she could get the minors parents to have you arrested for contributing to dilenquincy of a minor.Don't worry about step mom but in the future try to make better decisions. You are not legaly old enough to drink, but you could be drafted.Yeah you go and figure.

I think you're all right. Your boss is the only one could have pressed charges and didn't. Its now water under the bridge. Your step mother sounds like a sick one. Stay away from her. Don't give her a chance to get anything on you.

no i dont think your stepmom could get you in trouble with the cops, as long as your boss didnt press charges against you, what charge she is after you then, is it for alcohol stealing ?
this subject doesnt concern her at all.

No, she can't do anything. It's up to the State to bring charges, not your mom. In order for the State to bring charges against you, someone who has 'standing' or a vest interested needs to complain to the prosecutor---that'd be your ex-boss. He'd have to testify against you and it doesn't sound like he's interested in that.

Anything your mom can testify to is hearsay and inadmissible--the State can't make a case against you on her word.

So, in short--the answer is no.

Considering that the crime had nothing to do with her I really can't see how she could do anything.
