Does Bearshare only work for about 3 weeks then make you purchase?

It worked perfectly fine for a while now it is trying to make me purchase it? I know I wasn;t ever able to actually steal the songs..but it was nice just to download them for free and listen to them on my computer..anyone know any other software thats like bearshare or if I can make it work for free again? (do not suggest limewire)

I used the free version for years.

DO NOT USE BEAR SHARE! all it is is viruses!!!!
use lime wire!
