That my mother hadn't suffered
from cancer for two years.
That my children would always
be happy and healthy.
That everyone in the world
could have as nice a dinner
as I do every night.

if this was a very general genie and not the type to ask for a detailed specification for each wish, then i'd wish for:

1. the world to be better
2. friends, family, and everyone i meet to have good health and lives
3. a slumberous death for me (i'll save this until i've finished meeting everyone)

i want these things because:

1. the world is in pretty bad shape in all aspects, so why not end suffering making things better aka peaceful with no consequence of it being so

2. yes wishing for global peace is great and gets the majority but what about the minority, the forgotten voice. this wish was for them mostly friends and family and al those in between who might not be directly affected by the disastrous state of parts the world.

3. this may seem ill fitted but by giving myself the ability to call for my own death, i can become in a sense immortal, thought that is never a great thing. however, this does give me as much time as i see fit to do what i need to do and enjoy life as much as i want to , seeing all those that need to see me for wish 2, so that the goodbye isn't that harsh when it happens. i could do it in a way where its like i never really leave at all, just go on a long trip.

I was toying with this exact question last week.
Leaving out, "Sir, I'd like eighty-seven more wishes", which the genie wouldn't allow, the next best answer would depend on what YOU want most.

For me, it would as many years of healthy and perfectly sane life as I could be granted--so that I'd have time to enjoy doing what I do and learning more, without being continually interrupted as I have always been.

Second would be liberty and complete safety, so I could do what I do without worry or having it taken away by totalitarians or criminals of any sort--and I'd be willing to accept some limits on what I did in order to achieve this.

And third would be trillions invested in completely safe banks with foolproof delivery to me of enough interest to live on as long as I lived so I could cause to happen whatever I knew how to engineer--such as making TV shows, music Cd's, movies, traveling, publishing my own work or that of others, helping the deserving and building buildings I'd enjoy seeing rise--as well as a Museum to honor the real star talents of the world, and not pop idols and the merely pretty and incompetent icons of stupidity for once.

1. Reclaim history. From the original text of Gilgamesh to the lost epics of Sophocles to the episodes of The Tonight Show that NBC incinerated, I'd first ask for all of history to be reclaimed. And on convenient Blu-Ray or HD DVD's, thank you.

2. Summon the future. All of mankind's future innovations, again in convenient format complete with instructions.

3. The resources to realize (1) and (2).

More wishes, more genies to grant more wishes, anything like that. Oh, immortality, an endless supply of money... Stuff like that.

More realistic? $120,000, the ability to speak another language, and musical talent.

My first wish is that the whole world would be peaceful(no explanation needed)
My second wish would be to have enough money so that I wouldn't have to worry about bills anymore.
My third wish would be for much better health for myself and those I love.

first i wish that your question is true so i can wish my 3 wishes(i mean i will waste my first wish already)...of course, real money (i don't want to sound greedy but everybody wants that) to give to my firiends, families, less fortunate ones, pay bills, debts, all my family's expenses and future expenses as well and happiness for all ( it's really different to see that everybody is happy)...
