You don't need to go to the gynaecologist at 14, recommended age is 18 or 2 years post your first sexual intercourse experience, which ever is first. Otherwise is only recommended at an early age if you are experiencing difficulties. The gyno exam may make you nervous however once there it is not as bad as you expect and your Dr and nurse do this everyday, and it is just another body part to them. And they will be helpful and guide you through what is happening as they understand that people become nervous about these appointments.

I was the same way as you, completely nervous and not wanting to go. I actually didn't go until I was 23 because I was so nervous. I only went because I was having problems. The doctor told me that since I was not sexually active, and not having any problems prior that it was fine. However, she did tell me I should have started going by the age of 18. To be honest, I was nervous all through my first exam. I wasn't really comfortable until the third or fourth time I went to the doctor. It will seem very scary, but just remember sometimes we have to go through uncomfortable situations to stay healthy.
If you are very concerned about it and think you need to start going, bring it up to your mom. Ask her about her first appointment, and how she felt. I am betting that she felt the exact same way you are feeling. Remember, no one really WANTS to go to these appointments, but it is something all females have to do.

You're scared for no reason. You don't have to go to the Gyn at 14 unless you have a problem or you're sexually active.
The recommended age for going for a woman who is not sexually active is 18 or 19.
I went for my first Gyn visit at 19 because I had a couple of problems. There's nothing to it and my first Gyn was a woman. It was not gross nor scary nor invasive. The doctor was nice - she knew it was my first time and she explained everything she was doing and she went slow. My mom was also in the room along with a nurse.
Everyone is a bit nervous their first time. I was. But, it is easier if you get a woman Gyn and you tell her you're a virgin, plus it's your first visit. She will make things easier for you so your first time goes smoothly.

It's really okay. You'll be really nervous up until the minute they start looking at you. Then you think "Wow, this isn't even that big of a deal". I will admitt that some of the things that they do will be a little uncomfortable, but just be brave and keep going. You'll be fine. I had my first trip where they checked you out down there last week and I'm 16.

Sweetie!
Calm down hehe..
The doctors are not there to judge you..
they are only there to help prevent you from getting sick and from having cervical cancer.
it's for you benefit...
Ask for a woman if you are not comfortable with a man..
tell her or him this is your first time and you are very nervous
a nurse will probably be right beside you holding your hand if you need the comfort
or if you prefer your mom or a best friend im sure they would let you!
Don't be scared hun...
It's just part of life and all they want to do is help you...
Just relax and REMEMBER you might not ever have to see that doc again!!!
Hope this helps
btw i was 15 and i was very nervous also but i was glad to know i was fine!!!
goodluck!

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but you do need to have pelvic exams, including pap smears. This can save your life.
I certainly hope that your mother will talk to you about it, but why haven't you asked her about it? Conversations do go both ways.
Your family doctor can do a pelvic exam just as easily as can a GYN. In fact, unless you have an actual problem, there's no reason to see anyone but your family doctor.

There's no obvious need for you to go to a gynecologist unless there's something wrong with you. And there's no need to be scared when you do.
