Toyota pads were 100% organic. In That's why their rotors last forever. Ceramic and metallic pads should go 2 -3 weeks driving in town with no sudden stops to break in the pads and new rotors. Did you replace your rotors? Were they made in the USA, Canada or China. The latter is not worth bolting your hubs. Metallurgy in off-shore rotors is not acceptable. Let's fix your problem. I drive a Toyota and I know how long their brakes last__a long time. Camry's go to 60,000 - 80,000 miles on the original set. Why did you decide to change pad material? I'd see if there is enough stock on to rotors to turn them one more time. The problem with this is once the rotors are warped they will warp again because they've been annealed to a lower hardness. Standard Toyota rotors have enough stock on them to be safely machined at least twice. If you buy new ones be sure they are the same new thickness as the originals. I'go back to the factory Toyota pads and factory rotors.

Not entirely sure what your question is asking...but ceramic pads are generally MORE heat-resistant, and also substantially more expensive -- unlikely that they would be stock on a Toyota.

However, no matter what your pads are made of it is significant that you have warped them twice in less than six months. Unless you have a substantially older Toyota (i.e. with absolutely terrible brakes, to the point where you have to fully depress the pedal to come to a complete stop), I would consider talking to your dealer about any possible warranty action you could take. Even if the actual car is out of warranty, the new rotors should still be...since they're new. Also, perhaps it was a defect or misteak in workmanship that caused this problem.

I would definitely say discuss it with the dealer on this one.

dear sir; ceramic brake pads are high quality are the best in most vehicles given the fact that you do the brake job right, meaning you get the rotors turned and replace the hardware that is worn out and you broke-in the new ceramic pads. When this is done the pads give you great stopping power, keep that black nasty brake dust off you rims and recover quicker than stock pads, which gives you consistent stopping times. Most common cause of brake rotors warping is the brake caliper sticking. Most brake pads in vehicles are semi-metallic because of the cost and are a maintenance item that is the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle.

Ceramic brakes are best you can buy, but warping of the rotors is not the fault of the pads. That is the fault of the driver. The rotors warp when they get super hot and that is caused by excessive use. Modify your driving habits so you don't have to be on the brakes all the time.

Don't use overdrive in city driving. There is little to no engine braking in overdrive so the brakes do all the work.

Don't ride the brakes down hills. Use a lower gear and let the engine do part of the braking.

Don't tailgate in traffic. You use lots of brake that way.

There are 3 main types of brakepads:

Organic, semi-metallic, and ceramic.

Organic are extrememly inexpensive and also extremely low quality.

Semi-metallics are the best overall brakepads you can buy, but you do get more noise and brake dust than you do with ceramics.

Ceramics are very high-quality and usually cost about 50% more than their semi-metallic counterparts. They produce virtually no brake dust and are as quiet as brakes can be. However, they are not ideal in full-size trucks, especially applications where hauling is involved, because they don't have the stopping power of semi-metallics. They do have a slight tendency to overheat, also.

I don't know what comes on Toyotas, but there's a problem somewhere in your braking system or in the way you drive if you've warped your rotors twice in a few months.

Good luck

Well, personally, I would just go ahead and get new rotors, especially if you want to get another 30-40,000 out of it. Plus the fact that your basically putting your life and the lives of everyone on the road in jeopardy because you want to get the last few miles out of the rotors. as far as which pad for your application, the ceramic pads are higher end, promote less heat, stop better, since they are a harder material, they would probably wear the rotor out slightly faster than the semi's would. But the semi's would probably wear out sooner than the ceramics, so it is pretty much a 50-50 chance, but for real, you should go ahead and change out the rotor's...

I think it depends on your car. I heard the ceramic brake pads were the best, and they are normally made of some type of steel I think. The rotors are warped from wearing the brakes out too much I think, but I could be wrong about some this. See what other people say.

Generally speaking ceramic brake pads are the highest quality you can find. I do not know what Toyota pads are, but I would imagine steel for cost reasons.

Ceramic brakes are very expensive and usually only fitted to performance cars. Your average Toyota isn't likely to have them unless they're TRD ones and even then I don't think TRD do them

TRD is Toyota Racing Development

You'll probably find your brake pads are made of some very tough material that is sintered with copper or something like that

ceramic pads are supposed to be a better brake pad because it gives off less noise as well as less dust. this, of course, extends pad life but this also depends on the type of driver that you are.
