I'm a big fan of the interface of the iPod because it's so intuitive. You don't even really have to read the instructions to know how to operate it. What I don't like about the iPod is the battery life, at least on the one with video playback. Plus it doesn't take long for the battery to stop holding a sufficient charge, roughly two years if you use it regularly. But if you're using it mainly to listen to music and you don't plan on watching a lot of video, it's a nice gadget. I'd recommend getting the iPod Nano or iPod Shuffle though, unless you absolutely need to have a 7,500 or 20,000 song selection when you're on the go. The batteries on those two models last substantially longer than the battery on the iPod.

Yes.
Seemless audio playback, video capabilities, Itunes (Which has the most songs availiable for download anywhere), Great support, sleek and fairly affordable. Games, movies, it does it all.
iPod is the all-around choice. I would suggest a nano if you have a small selection of songs. If you have a large amount of songs I would spend an extra 50 bucks and get a 30 gb iPod video.
Most other mp3 players will either fall apart or not have enough space for a growing library of music.

No, it's All Hype. Most of Apple Products have always been about Hype. The big Problem I Have, and MANY Other People have about iPods is that the Battery is Not Replaceable. Eventually, after Charging, Playing, and Recharging, the battery needs to be replaced, and You have to PAY to Have it Serviced in order to do that. Many other MP3 Players have Batteries that You can replace Yourself.

iTunes easy to use, iPod easy to use. Also they are both very organized. I think that if you get the warranty it may be worth it because of the battery life (exchanging). You could buy a used one for cheaper. Or get a Sony Mp3 player with outstanding battery life. Or just get a Zune, big screen, better battery life, etc. But they aren't as easy to use as an iPod.

When it comes to mp3 players, iPod sets the standard. All others are second best. The storage space, the very usable iTunes software, and the versatility of the device make it second to none.

I personally don't think ipod's are the best mp3's.
Ipods are just the brand name, you'd get a better deal buying a mp3 with similiar features for half the cost elsewhere.
But if you want to go with whats 'in' instead of more for your dollar go for it.

well it kinda depends on what you plan to use it for as well as what the one you have now can do. I have the new nano that has the color screen for pics and stuff. And i love it. However i must say that at first i didnt like the program on the computer that you have to use. Plus i like that i can keep a few pics of it on there. as I think that once the music is on there it is great, easy to make new playlist without haveing to set it in the computer, can search through other music without stopin what is playing and stuff like that. If you have the money and any of those things apeal to you then yes it is worth it.

personally i think i pods are just a fad...and everyone wants one so that they can look cool. i know a lot of friends who have them and they keep sending it back to apple because something was wrong. but out there there are so many accessories for i pods it's hard to go away from it. i recommend you stay with mp3 players though
