get " guild wars". it is a fun game to play. you must need an internet connection(i would prefer dsl or higher) to play. but there is no additional fees. just pay 30-50 bucks for the game itself and play. no online fees. you select your charactor from a couple of classes and you go on a quest with a lot of other people. really fun,

Take note, most of the games with monthly fees happen to have bootlegged 'free' servers that people make using an uncopywritten version of the game from another country (Usually Korea) Therefore some games to consider would be

Rangarok Online

Linage 2

Adventure Quest (This's ones free and on Flash)

BOTZ (Another free game made by Acclaim)

If your going to want a good MMO that doesnt needs a Monthly fee, then stop looking now. Their is is no MMO out their for you, sadly to say. If you want to toughen up and open up your wallet, then heres a list of MMO that you can have a blast with.

World of warcraft: This highly popular MMO is good for a beginner. It has a Very large community, ranging from variety ages.

Everquest 1: this game is Hardcore, and pretty much a raiding game now. If your planing on joing this game, then make sure you have friend to help level with you!

Everquest 2: Awesome game. It sits between WoW and EQ1. Its not that hardcore, but its not a walk in a park to learn. I recommend this highly

Vanguard: Start with a fresh mmo, and play this game. People will be at the same level as you are, and it's quite enjoyable

SWG: Dont bother. They killed this game. Moving along...

Guild Wars: this is the only decent FREE MMO out their, but it can be quite tireing after awhile...

I hope my list helps you. I only listed the major MMo that are **WORTH** it in my opinion.

World of Warcraft is the absolute most popular MMO currently. Buy the game and play on private servers! Here is a guide of how to play on private servers once you have the game

Maple Story (free, with optional cash shop)
Tibia (free, with optional premium account)
Runescape (free, with optional membership)
Survival Project (free, but ending soon)
Neverwinter Nights (free, but bought in store)

I'm sure there's a lot more, but I can't think of any good ones.
