A few days ago one of my highschool's AP psych teachers came to talk to one of my classes and said that it is required and that it is really hard in college; was this just to get us to take the class, or was the teacher telling the truth?
I only ask because if it is a required course I wouldn't mind taking it next year (my senior year) aside from it being my sixth AP class next year.

It depends on the college, but usually psychology is not a required course.

In college, there are usually "general education" or "gen ed" requirements, like English, a hard science, a social science, a math, and a foreign language. Students can choose among many introductory courses in many departments to fulfill these requirements.

Back when I was an undergraduate, I was allowed to take psychology as a "hard science," but this is not usually the case today. Currently, an introductory course in psychology sometimes fulfills a social science requirement. Sometimes it does not.

That teacher is on crack...I was a genetics major when I started at A&M and now Im Sociology and it is not required. I do need "behavioral science" credits, but there were many classes I could have taken. I took AP Psyc in highschool because I needed more hours and it sounded more interesting then AP Physics.

No.

And it's not hard in college. It's actually pretty easy. A hard college course would be something in engineering or a science like bio or chem. Psych is a known easy course of study in college. Of course, every school is different, but generally speaking...

No it's not, but most likely they give it to you in college. Depending on your intended major as well as if the college you're applying to give you a head start at choosing courses that you are interested in to take. If you're undecided you're most likely to get psychology. You can always email the advisor and swap it with sociology if you want.

No. It seems to me too few students are selecting his course, so he is out to 'drum up business', and could be an easy course (as an elective) for you. Go in and "kiss asss" for an easy 'A'.
