Yes they can be colorblind.

Red-green color blindness is a sex linked trait. This means, women need two defective chromosomes (one from the father one from the mother) to have a color vision deficiency on the so-called red-green range.

Blue-yellow color blindness and monochromacy (complete color blindness) are not sex linked. Those are equally distributed among men and women but are compared to red-green color blindness very rarely observed and therefore not really recognized.

Yes. In order for a female to be color blind, she must be homozygous for the recessive color blind allele.

In order for her to attain homozygosity,

1. Her father must be color blind.

2. Her mother must have at least one recessive color blind allele and pass it to her.

yes but it is very rare because females carry to x chromosomes so to have color blindness a female must have two x chromosomes so her dad would have to have it and her mom would have to be heterozygous having a dominent and recesive allele or homozygous recesive it is more commom in males because they carry a x and a y chromosome
