So here's my situation, guys, I am going to (hopefully) graduate this year. I know for a FACT that I want to live in Chicago, permanently. My question is, what is more advisable to do before I make my move: take out a loan and just go for it and find a job once I get there, or wait and rot here in Miami hoping for an interview, secure a job, and THEN move...

If I do take out a loan, which I'm leaning towards more, how much would it have to be and what should I take into consideration? How do I even begin to look for the jobs in my field (International Relations/Geography)?!

Any serious advice would be helpful, really. And for extra, to those who've lived in Chicago AND Miami, which do you prefer and why?

How about just a bitty loan from a friend, parent, etc and go to Chicago and job hunt for a week or so? Would feel better about up and moving IF you had a job all lined up. Between interviews you can also search out the housing market, maybe you can find a place to share with someone. Or; do you already have a friend or family in Chicago? You can stay with them for a week or more while you search, but I wouldn't just move up here in hopes of landing a job. Oh and don't just hop on the first job offered to you unless you really really feel it's a sweet offer, don't be so deperate to move up here that you jump on the first offer. Hope this helps. I don't live in Chicago, but it is a nice but COLD place. Are you sure you will like Chicago? Way different than Miami culturally and environmentally.....

If you make the move before you have a job, you'll have to pay for it. If you get a job there, chances are the company will pay for at least part of your move. Also, it's expensive to live in Chicago, so you don't want to begin in a hole.

I know you're anxious - that's natural, But a little patience here could really pay off.

do as much job hunting over the internet as you possibly can, it's best to land a job before you graduate anyway

i worked in chicago for 6 months, and i've visited miami a number of times

why chicago?

outside of chicago being closer to family, i'd probably rather live in miami, but i havent been there for long periods of time

oh hello why not choose to move to china ,an ancient country where u can enjoy the deep literature fruits refined through 5000 years,u will find your real life value over there ,as we all know with the open and reform of china ,countless foreigners will tour and even settle down there ,in contrast ,if u still chose to stay in the usa, then your horizon would be very narrow and life significance could not be well appreciated ,in addition ,china is in the times of rapid development ,it deadly needs people from different cultures and background to meet its developments' needs, especially ones from advanced countries since they can bring about new and advanced concepts which are condusive for a country plagued with some traditional notions that have been obstacles affecting its developments .To be frank ,i really appreciate china -a great nation.in human history ,china has created lots of increditable legends and masterworks ,and its great commitment to the devolopment of human society is really worth of others' praises and applauses. At present,it still persists on its policy to help countries in need for free, though its economy is not developed enough to support it to demonstrate its great humanitisim ,from this point some developed countries should learn a lesson as when we review the history ,we would find something disappointed and feel ashamed of some developed countries' evil stories.Peace and development is the permanent topic of the human development and should be well implemented, however, some nations just violate it through advocating the evil groups and organizations to destroy the peace and harmony of countries and regions under the pretext of maintaining human rights and promoting so called "democracy".
all in all ,nowadays violence and killings in some regions such as mideast is the very evidence of the badly intention and actrocity of some developed nations ,especially those led by U.S.A,they are the real evil group behind the bloody killings ,i deeply believe the punishments will come to them soon .The world peace pursuers are waiting for the coming of that moment. Oh sorry ,i just said something deviated.sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
