I am just beginning my college search, and I am seriously considering not taking math my senior year of high school. I am taking College Algebra and Trig this year, but I really am not a math person. Most of my friends say that its not smart to not take math my senior year. I understand what they mean because I know colleges look at the courses you took your senior year.
In place of math, I was planning on taking two english courses. In college I plan on majoring in English with an Emphasis on Creative Writing. My problem is, if most collges require a math course for generals, then after having a year off of math, I don't think I'm going to know what I'm doing.
If you could give me the typical generals requirements, that would be great. None of the college websites I've visited (and there have been quite a few), have posted their requirements. Thank you so much!

Most colleges will include a hard science, a mathematics, a social science, English, and a foreign language in their "gen ed" requirements.

Very few colleges do not include a mathematics course in their gen ed requirements.

Colleges vary in the admission requirements depending on the course of study. My advice to you would be to search the college website to find information pertaining to the desired program, or if nothing can be found, contact the prospective college directly and ask to speak to the admissions department. You could also enlist the assistance of your high school counsellor. They usually have a good grasp on the requirements for college entry and could help you choose courses that would be of greater benefit.
