trheshold bank1, does anyone know s what this means and how can i fix it....p.s. previous owner removed the converter does this make a diff, thanks for ANY help....

I assume you have a code P0420. You have already answered your question. You will have to replace the converter.

P0420 Catalyst Efficiency Below Normal (Bank 1)
Possible Causes Setting Conditions
Air leaks in at the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes
Catalytic converter damaged or has failed
Front HO2S older (aged) than the rear HO2S (HO2S-11 is lazy)
PCM has failed

If the converter is removed then the engine will not perform as designed. Mine came on in my 2003 chevy truck. It turned out to be a wire had burned into on the exhaust system. Check out the little wires going down to the exhaust.

It is against the law to remove the converter in some states.

if the converter is gone it will affect the engine perfomance, ussaly bank 1 is the 02 sensor. check the wires for the sensor.

Yes, it DOES make a difference. Install the converter first, and see what happens! It's illegal to alter emissions control system.

Cat convertor has the o2 sensor in it. If their is no o2 sensor then the check engine light will come on

the put some of the wires "jump" now they got loose."re-hook'em"
