going back==vinyl records>transistor radio>clay records>tube radio>crystal sets (for one station) if you faced it the right way. Before that, the local bar or honky tonk. Before that, sitting around a fire beating on drums.(:P

the old phonographs could play records without electricity. You cranked them up to spin the turn-table, and instead of loudspeakers, they used horns to amplify the music.

8 track .... big cassette that fit in like a tape that most are used to.... prior to that was records... sadly I just realized I'm old enough to remember both!!!
