I admit, I am self-critical when the house is dirty, but not enough to really clean it! And I've come to accept clutter as a part of life. We just have a lot of stuff that we actually use. It's okay.

In fact, I just read an article at wehow that made me feel a lot better about things, called "How to Embrace Your Messiness." It's about a book these guys wrote called "The Perfect Mess" and how a little clutter enhances creativity and relaxation! Check it out at the link below...

Clutter I can live with...in fact, I rather need some degree of "clutter" going on so I can remember where things are, any more if I don't *see* things I forget them.

As for cleanliness, I rather agree with one of the first posters, it is a marker of my state of mind, in that if my mood is stable and I feel halfway good, my house is much cleaner...but...

It isn't just me though. Lately my house has been a rather dirty mess, and it's all been from stress. For about the past five months *straight* the management in my apartment building has been in *everyone's face* an average of 3 times a month, nearly every week a couple of those months, just nit-picking at this and that, if it isn't an inspection, it is having maintenance invade the apartments *again* to get to a door strip that needs removing and replacing to replace the floors, if it isn't that, it's installing CO (carbon monoxide) detectors in a *completely ELECTRIC* apartment (no gas burns, no space heaters are allowed *already*, so where exactly is it going to *come from*?).

So...while I admit some of my mess is *me* and my being in a funk (winter and depression), some of it is just exhaustion from being hassled *endlessly* by Managers with No End In Sight. And with no other benefit than....More Hassle down the road.

But yeah.....I really need to clean my apartment, so I can at least *conceive* of having friends over. o_O

I can live with a little dust, let the vacuuming go for a bit but I can't stand clutter, stuff sitting around, stuff I have step over, walk around, etc. I like to have everything put away. I'm not a big knick-knack person either. Too much clutter makes me feel "blocked", "trapped", I feel like everything is out of control. I've had to learn to lighten up a little since my bf and I moved in together. As long as the dirty clothes get put in the dirty bin and he keeps the walkways clear, I can manage.

When my home is clean and organized I feel wonderful my whole attitude changes, it is like the best feeling in the world I am happy, it actually makes me feel like I have taken some type of drug and I am on cloud nine, I know it makes me feel alive.
When the house is dirty, I feel dirty and I feel that my life is so unorganized, I have no energy for anything or anyone it gives me the blues and I actually get depressed and I have just about stayed in bed all day feeling sick and all it came down to was that my house was not clean or organized I also get this way about my car and yard as well. The key to a successful life involves a clean, fresh, and organized home as well as all of your surroundings. Be happy keep your home clean!!

I feel really great and relaxed/calm when it's clean but then I worry about how it won't stay that way long and how dreadful it is to have to clean it up again before ya know it. When it's cluttered and dirty I feel kinda down in the dumps because I'm dreading cleaning it because I like comfort and comfort to me, does not include cleaning house all day. But eventually I force myself to clean and then I'm proud of myself and the clean house. It' never lasts long enough.

When my home is clean and fresh, I feel that I am able to accomplish things and feel a lot more energetic.

When my home is cluttered and dirty I feel, useless and lazy. Just looking at it makes me feel lethargic. Hence, the clutter keeps getting worse.

But when someone pisses me off or I'm having my PMS I suddenly feel like straightening and cleaning up things. Now in turn, could you explain to me why is that so?

When my house is clean and fresh, I always feel euphoric, happy, I am in a good mood. I am up and ready to go. When the house is a mess and dirty and cluttered, I am rattled and forgetful and grumpy and a little depressed. I feel lonely and wish I didn't have to get out of bed.

Well I feel so good when my home is clean. I hate to see a clutter and dirt. To me it causes stress. But I have 2 kids so sometimes I leave it be for a little while to get some rest. lol ! But when im done resting I clean it right up. I dont wanna stress myself out to much. So sometimes its ok to let a clutter be for a little while but not for to long.

When it's clean and fresh I feel bored! I don't know what to do anymore! When it's cluttered I feel frustrated, but I definately know I'm in the right house!

I feel uptight when my house is clean. I feel I HAVE to keep it clean, so I concentrate on how I'm going to do that. When my house or a particular room in my house is a mess, I feel more organized for some reason. When my house is freshly cleaned, everything has been moved to a "proper place". When the house is a mess, generally every pile has similar items in it. Dirty clothes lying in one pile, scattered papers and homework in another. I don't have homework in my desk, on my desk, or in my backpack. I don't have my dirty clothes in several hampers, it's all in one place. I like things cluttered, I feel less pressure to keep it clean.
