I have 2 columbians along with 4 other species of sharks in a 125 gallon tank. They seem to be doing fine with plain old aquarium salt. Should I switch to brackish or not? I have bala's, rainbow's, ghost knife, red tips and black tips.

Ideally you would start a small one in FW. As it grows SLOWLY change your water over to brackish. As an adult, these fish should ideally be in a low salinity(1.018-1.020) full marine water. I have seen small adults(8") in FW, and juvs(3-4") in SW. Depends how you acclimate, as they are very hardy fish. Do not switch to brackish with your current stock.

Yeah, as adults, columbian sharks are brackish fish, but as juveniles they are freshwater fish.
You wouldn't want to switch your main tank to brackish, but it would probably be a good idea to set up a large brackish tank for the sharks, because they can hit 12" and would need 100 gallons to themselves as adults.

The Columbian will be fine in an aquarium with aquarium salt for a while as juveniles, but adults require almost marine conditions:

If everyone is doing fine then why ask ?
Freshwater fish needs a little salt for improved gill movement and a natural aid to the slime coat (+ it aids against parasites).
But Brackish means a medium between fresh and marine.
If your Columbians are doing fine, keep you current regimen going.

I'm actually surprised your Ghost knife is surviving in this environment, they are known to be solitary creatures.

Good Luck.
