If you listen to 'retro' stations, you would hear many Stones' songs.
As far as how big they are, I haven't measured them.

The radio may not play a lot of their great songs but they also did As Tears Go By, Brown Sugar, Midnight Rambler, Play With Fire, The Last Time, Tumbling Dice, Get Off Of My Cloud, Ruby Tuesday among many other songs that were big hits. Unfortunately a lot of stations can't seem to play but a few of their songs as is the case with a lot of other bands as well.

I personally am not a big fan of the Rolling Stones, but the world loves them. They are the standard for a garage rock band. Their music is played everywhere. They were the "bad boys" of the British Invasion. They were in a sense the anti-hero of the British Invasion.

"These days"? I mean, they've been around for ages. If you're listening to classic rocks stations, many of them do tributes to the Stones like the "Mandatory Metallica" tributes that other stations do. Wild Horses, Under My Thumb, Paint It Black, Sympathy for the Devil, It's Only Rock and Roll, Brown Sugar, etc, etc, etc, etc... I hear these songs daily, even on stations that don't specifically play classic rock. So, yea... pretty big deal, they are.

They're good because they're legends, but their style isn't what's "In Style" now. They're part of the British Invasion from the 60's, and that's what made them big, but they have staying power and that's what makes them big. Seen them twice. Great both times.
Heard Ruby Tuesday just this morning.

In terms of ability, they're alright. In terms of song quality, it's been one or two greats per albums. And yet, they strive on. The mere fact that they're still at it and can pen a good tune (rarely now, it seems) still makes them legendary in their own right.
