North Carolina is a great option. I am a loan officer in North Carolina and we have had many people moving from Florida, and other states due to affordable living. There are many options in NC also. You have many large cities that provide many job opportunities, and also smaller towns outside these cities that have great housing and great schools. Mount Airy, NC also known as "Mayberry" from the Andy Griffith show is a small town, great to live in, but also close to larger cities for jobs.
