the best man

I like playing it but I don't know about awesome. In the long run the best players will win the most money, tournaments, rating points, whatever. In the short run it can be very luck-driven. If I played the world chess champion, I would never win a game. If I played the world's Backgammon champion, while I am not a favorite to beat him, it is not at all unlikely.

I stopped playing it on Yahoo because people think the doubling cube is a toy to agree to turn to 128 and "game" the rating system. It's sad, because when used properly the cube requires a lot of skill to handle.

To be really good at Backgammon, understand the odds of getting a certain number using 2 dice. There are 36 possible outcomes with 2 dice and 6 hitting with just one .. 42 results
.
# vs ways to hit that number out of 36
1 = 6
2 = 7
3 = 8
4 = 9
5 = 10
6 = 11
7 = 6
8 = 5
9 = 4
10 = 3
11 = 2
12 = 1

good luck with your game

Backgammon is good, but a combination of skill and luck. Acey duecy also. You should try Sequence. More skill and variables involved. two to four players.
