Depends.
If it is just a light scratch, and it can't be caught by your fingernail as you go across it. Then a simple high speed buffer and some polish will remove it. And detail or body shop can buff this right out.
If you can feel the scratch, and its straight (as in not jagged edges but like a razor line) then it can be melted back together by a buffing expert. This is called burn blending, and the person actually heats the paint up enough w/ the buff over time and with product that he can actually move/shift the paint up to 1 mm each direction. In turn removing/filling in the scratch.
If it is jagged, from like someone held the key down hard and it chunked the paint out in like teeth mark motions. Then you have two options.
1. Call up your dealership and get ahold of who they use for their used car touch up paint work, or call any dealership and ask who they use. The more of a high line dealer it is, the more of a pro the touch up person will be. He can either A. use a brush and a wipe off method to fill in the scratch, B. fill it in with an airbrush or C. fill it in with a hypodermic needle. Touch up is still touch up, its not perfect but 1/16th the price of a body shop and 99% of the original finish is kept in tack.
2. Find these same touch up guys but ones that can actually do spot repairs in metal panels and over multiple panels. These guys are few and far between cause it takes a real expert to fix a panel without painting the entire panel. Make sure you see before and after work but if you find one of these guys....he is a paint god, trust me.
Your last choice is to go to a body shop. The typical route. They will sand it out, primer it, paint it and then re-clearcoat all panels involved. Could range from $400 up to $3000 or even more.
Touch up and mini repair methods from route 1 can range from $45 to $500.
You can also look in the phone book under detail, body shop repair for these guys as well. I should know....this is what I do for a living.

Depends how many panels it crosses. Bet on less than $1000 unless your paint has metallic flake.

as much as a paint job (hopefully to match) on the WHOLE side of the car (if thats where the scratch is...call around where YOU live and ask. Yahoo isn't a car painting place...)
