From my personal experience the biggest myth is "It is just a cold". A cold is something serious to be concerned about so that it doesn't become pneumonia or bronchitis. People actually can die from a cold advancing to a more serious stage.

I speak from experience. My mother caught a cold on the last day of July at the Dentists office and was dead in 3 weeks.

If you go to the Dentist and someone who is to work in your mouth has a cold. Do not allow them to work on you. Leave or request someone that is well.

you do not get a cold from being cold, however being cold lowers your immune systems ability to fight off the bacteria that can cause a cold.
