Gametes are sex cells from the parents which determine the sex of the child. The male is the actual parent who's gametes determine the sex. The female produces gametes with only "X" sex chromosomes. The male produces gametes with either an "X" or a "Y" sex chromosome. When the male and female gametes join, the cell formed will have a full set of chromosomes. It will get and "X" from the female and either "X" or "Y" from the male. XX makes a female child, XY makes a male child.

The sperm determines the sex of a child. The male sperm-producing cells contain the sex chromosomes X and Y. Depending on how meiosis divides the chromosomes, X or Y could be put into the sperm, thereby determining if the progeny is either female (X is contributed) or male (Y is contributed).

The male sperm cell. All of a females eggs carry the X (female) chromosome. A sperm cell though can have either an X or a Y chromosome. If the child gets an XX (female's X + male's X) then you get a female child, and if you end up with an XY (female's X + males Y) then you get a male.

Physical Sex and Brain Sex are 2 different things. Studies show how a flood of testosterone to the fetus is responsible for establishing "Brain" sex Therefore Brain sex is established from the mother. Physical sex ( which genitals you have) is determined by the 23rd chromosome pair. Normally XX ( girl ) XY ( boy ) and abnormal XXY or XXXY XXYY or even XXXXY. Normal physical sex is establised from the pairing of the Man's XY and the Womans XX chromosomes.

not a cell, a gene. the X and/or Y genes pretty much. all males have XY genes which makes them male, all female have XX genes which makes them female. when 2 sex cells combine, the father pretty much determines the sex of the child because the mother always gives the child an X gene, its a 50 50 chance weather the child will receive an x or y gene from the father.

well, it's either the y chromosome or the x chromosome, which is contributed by the father. funny thing about that is if the father balmes the mother for their child being ( for example) a girl when he wants a boy, it's really all his fault. quite an entertaining fact actually. XD

and If it's "Y",then it's a boy.
