I commend your making the effort. What worked for me is to write a great deal, after all, practice makes the difference. Use spell-check and grammar-check as they will help a great deal. If you need to compose something where there is no spell-checker, first compose your words in MS Word, check the spelling and grammar, then cut and paste into the composition box on the web page. This works exceptionally well for Yahoo when asking questions on this forum.
Best wishes, and keep practicing.

Your writing sounds as though for whatever reason, you didn’t pay attention while being taught English from kindergarten on up to now.
It also seems that your English teachers weren’t very diligent with the testing of that which they were teaching.
What I think though is that at this point in your existence you are a very fast thinker.
You may want to try recording what you want to type and then play it back and type whatever the document is as you play it back.
That is called machine transcription.
That was my forte while studying word processing many years ago. Anybody out there remember WANG; MultiMate; WordStar, the ORIGINAL WordPerfect?
I digress.
After you type your composition, proofread it.
I have the American Heritage Dictionary installed on my computer and there is a macro that allows it to work along with MS Word and other word processors.
Sometimes, as I type, I’ll look up the definition of a word or words and check for synonyms.
I also occasionally use the spell check feature in MS Word.
For words that you have no idea how to spell, e.g. seizure, you spelled it, sessur, just as you asked this question here on Yahoo Answers, don’t hesitate to ask someone around you. If they don’t know call a friend. If during the daytime, call your local library.
In the main library where I live, there is a person that sits at what is called the reference desk and works in what is called the reference section. This person works with ALL reference books; i.e. dictionaries, thesauri, encyclopedias, etc.
I don’t know the persons title, but before I installed the American Heritage Dictionary and Thesaurus to my computer and before I got online, whenever I had a problem with a word or word usage, if there was no one else around that might know the answer, I would call the library and ask for that person.
Just remember; the main thing to do is to
KEEP ASKING.

If you can speak well but cant write correctly and grammatically, try this out.
Have a tape recorder and record what you want to say. Play it back slowly and then type the words as you have spoken. Apply the spell check facility to what you have typed and correct the writing. At that time, observe what are the words that you spell incorrectly, make a note of them on a sheet of paper, and go thru this regularly, so that the correct spelling remains in your mind.
Correction in spelling and grammar needs conscious effort and dedication if you want to improve. This is not difficult, if you have the will to improve.
If you have friends who are good in the areas of your weakness, talk to them, show what your writing is, and ask for their frank comments. Let them point out errors without getting offended. Correct the errors they find in your speech/writing.
Read a couple of good literary works - not necessarily the Shakespear type, but modern English. In fact, if you are interested to improve, you can profit from reading the book 'Good English' by G H Vallins.
Using the third person in place of the first person, could be a bit of a problem to correct as this practice has come to you over years. However, if you think carefully, and make serious conscious effort to utter the first person word (after excusing yourself, when you are talking to someone) immediately after you realise your mistake, your usage would improve.
I would suggest that you read a good newpaper slowly and carefully, absorb the meanings and spellings, and check the grammar used. If you come across a word which you know you make a mistake in spelling when you write it, keep the paper aside, practice writing the correct word on a blank paper a few times till the correct spelling gets in your memory.
Good luck.

i had pretty much the same problem as you and to some extent i still do. one thing that has really really helped me is reading. i read a lot. read some articles from, say... time magazine or the economist. another thing that helps is that read novels from varying authors of a genre that you like. me i like fantasy so i read novels by robert jordan, tolkien, weis & hickman. if you want more details or more info. email me i'd be glad to help you out. if you are still in school try joining your speech and debate team.
