Nothing weird? What do you call having a chimp? I had an Aunt who had one once, and chimps are extremely destructive and unless caged, in a zoo, or in the wild - must have care 24 X 7. It is like having a 2-year old who never grows up, can climb where you can't, therefore, reaching ANY and everything, and has a high amount of dexterity (ability to manipulate small things).

Anyway, I'm not sure what you have against dogs, but one can train hamsters to some degree. Some Cockatiels and Parrots are highly trainable, too. The problem really is, the more intelligent and trainable something is, the more it must have a lot of stimulation and something to do nearly all the time. That is why Border Collies and Poodles are so trainable - yet, left to their own devices will get into deep trouble by making themselves busy however they can.

Chimps become vicious and dangerous as they hit maturity. THAT is why you don't want a chimp, not because of money. Monkeys and apes make horrible pets.

And ducks actually can be trained. You can even train fish to do tricks if you use the right techniques. But ducks require some specialized care and housing.

How about a nice parakeet or a cockatiel? They are easily trained and can learn lots of tricks. Most apartments and rentals will accept them, they are inexpensive, don't take up lots of space and after you buy the cage don't cost a lot to feed each week. And they can be great pets.

How about a ferret! They use a litter box like a cat does for the mess and have great personalities. The can be cuddly and mischievous too! They come in many different types from albino to nearly black in color. You can buy a decent sized cage for him when nobody is home. Also, the have exercise balls to roll around in just like hamsters.

no reptiles their not wierd there pretty cool. but i agree a bird might be a good choice for u. chimps are wild animals and not good pets. ducks are cool and can be trained. pot belly pigs are very train able. so arent skunks which r deoterized. sugar gliders are cool 2.

(I have had all of the following pets, and they have ratings beside them, 5 stars is the highest)

1. ferrets ****- high maintenance, playful, intelligent, litterbox trained, incredibly entertaining!!
2. gerbils *****- very low maintanance, interested by anything you put in the cage, and sweet, gentle, and cute!!
3. hamster **- very low maintanance, but they tend to bite, not sociable, and bad parents, but very cute!!

hope this helps!!!!
