since when did wearing a swim suit on stage in front of millions measure a woman's intelligent. every year i boycott those pageants.i am not a femminst at all.but those pageants have to be stopped.they are giving our young girls the wrong message.they are basically telling these girl being beautiful is the only way to get by in life.

and why should some one win a title just because they are pretty.since when did pretty become an achievement?

and no i am not some ugly chick hating on pretty girls.but what i am hating on is giving our young women wrong messages about their image.

no wonder we have some many eating disorders around.

what are your thoughts?

I absolutely disagree with the pageant. But so many people put such importance on beauty. People can be really shallow. Most people aren't perfect, and never will. I think that it does give these little girls the wrong message about their image just as a lot of the pop star girls that they look up to. Everything is about sex these days, and it is destroying a lot of morals.

I agree with you totally.
What does wearing a swimsuit have to do with being a person to look up to? What does being pretty have to do with being a terrific person?
The pageant is just another shallow example of what passes for entertainment in our culture.

WE MUST BE TWINS BECAUSE I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING .
I AGREE 100%

BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.

BEAUTY IS MUCH MORE THAN SKIN DEEP.

THERE ARE 90 TO 100 YEAR OLD WOMEN OUT HTERE THAT ARE MORE BEAUTIFUL IN THE RIGHT WAY, THAN SOME OF THE ONES STUTTING AROUND LIKE THEY THINK THEY ARE ALL THAT!

i don't think its demeaning.
I just find it insulting (especially, to the very good looking contestants that do not even make the cut)
