How do I get rid of unwanted squirrels?

I live in the city, so trapping and bb's are not an option due to heavy sidewalk traffic. They are in my wall and are way to high to reach from outside. They have chewed through the wall and my cats are in a standoff with them. I can not afford to call in a pest controll expert. How can I drive them away without causing any discomfort to me or my pets.

I hate to disagree with you but you have three options:
1. Trap the little varmints. Live traps are not that expensive and they work. This is exactly what a pest service will do. It is time consuming; catch the squirrel, release in the country, catch another, etc. Then find out how they got in your house and repair immediately.
2. BB guns are worthless, however new high velocity pellet rifles work great and will save a lot of time over trapping.
3.If you don't have the courage or ability to do number 1 or 2 then you will have to call a pest service.

Hmm tricky one this, as it sounds like they want to stay where they are, find out where their nearest source of food is and cut it off, just make their life very uncomfortable, blocking off their nest entrance things like that, if you can reach it disturbe the nest, get a more aggresive cat finally if none of this works your going to have to bring in an expert, do you know of anyone who hunts?

It would be cruel to kill them. If you poison them they could die in difficult to reach places and stink up the house for days. The most sensible and humane way would be to catch and release them elsewhere. Those traps that dont hurt them are not expensive.

Throw out unwrapped sticks of "Juicy Fruit" gum. They like it and eat it because its sweet and tastes like fruit but, it clogs up their intestines and they die.
