Are people too anal-retentive about their house and cars' appearance ?

It seems like a lot of people freak out if they have one little scratch on their car or have a little bit of dust in their house.

Yes they can be. I could probably accept being a little freaked out with a scratch on the car if I just bought it, but on an old car...no. I know for myself if a house is too clean I feel very uncomfortable sitting anywhere. The bottom line is, that I sooner see someone taking care of their car and house, before spending all their time in a bar.
