So far I'm planning to get my girlfriend (who I've been with for 6 months) a boquet of red roses and a note or something. I'm putting a poem on it also, but attempts to write one have been dismal, so I chose one. It's First Love by John Clare. The link is below:

So, do you think that's a good idea? Because these roses are the first thing I'm going to get her. I have a budget of about $140, so the cost of delivery or stuff might not leave much. Any other better alternatives, or is this fine already, or what?

I agree with the previous writer. A single rose is perfect, no need for a dozen. Poem makes up for the -11. You still have 135.00 remaining, soooooo you could take her to an evening 8:00 dinner or just coffee and dessert, a walk in the park or on the beach or to the local ski lodge and have a totti by the fireside. Just watching is fun too. Ask for the keys to her car, take it for an oil change, a car wash. Open car doors for her regardless of where you go. For the cost of the 11 roses you could buy her that new pair of jeans or perfume she's hinted about. Lasts much longer than the dozen of roses.

I think a single rose with the poem is really nice. You might want to give her a box of chocolates and take her out to supper or someplace that has dancing. A charm for a charm bracelet would be really nice as well. Don't spend so much on the roses as they will die. One rose lasts as long as a dozen and one rose means as much as a dozen.

From experience i would have to say that you can get a lot more bang for your buck with out the flowers. however if you are in a long distance relationship the flowers are key. note: try to have them delivered to a place where others will comment like her job or her class room. one rose will do all most the same thing a dozen will. home cooked meals romantic baths and massages are great alternatives also coupons are good like good for one hug etc...

I like the idea of the roses, but it is true they won't last that long. The poem is great, but maybe a single rose with a valentine balloon. (or 6 roses? one for each month ) Maybe do the candle light dinner, if you have a specialty dish you can cook, that is always fun.

That's really sweet.

Basically what I'm doing is that I'm giving him a memory box with some stuff I put together for him. I also made him a really nice card with a heartfelt poem that I wrote. I made him a poem book with pictures I have taken as well. : } I'm doing all this stuff because Valentine's is our first anniversary. ♥

Well, I found this great website that has a lot of ideas that people sent in. A lot of great ideas... cheap, creative, sweet. So if you need other ideas, here ya go:
