Lucifer was a Babylonian king who ended badly. In a translation in the 14th (?) century, the name was confused with "Satan", which means "enemy" in Aramaic, and has been confused in oral tradition ever since.
In Isaiah, this title is specifically used, in a prophetic vision, to reference the king of Babylon's pride and to illustrate his eventual fate by referencing mythological accounts of the planet Venus:
14:4 You will recite this parable about the king of Babylonia: How has the oppressor come to an end, the arrogance been ended?
14:10 They will all proclaim and say to you, "You also have been stricken as we were; you are compared to us.
14:11 Brought down to the nether-world were your pride and the tumult of your stringed instruments; maggots are spread out under you, and worms are your covers.
14:12 How have you fallen from the heavens, O glowing morning star; been cut down to the ground O conqueror of nations?
(Isaiah, Artscroll Tanakh)

Amazing how people only read what they want to read. Read the whole section on Lucifer, not just that part.

Lucifer and Satan are the same. Lucifer was an angel, who after going against God, became a demon, renamed Satan, and was cast out of heaven. The name Lucifer means 'shining light' which was Satan's name as an angel before he turned against God. The name Satan means in Hebrew 'adversary' . In Judaism it refers to 'going against humanity'. I hope this helps and for accuracy of information, I suggest that you research it in the Bible. Do not take my word for it alone.

Commonly, they both reffer to the supposed evil force that reigns hell.

'Satan' is hebraic and means 'the enemy'.

'Lucifer' was a Titan in greek mythology, the lightbearer and was very handsome. Titan are fallen gods (they tried to defeat the gods) just like Satan who's a fallen angel.

Satan and Lucifer are the same person, but Lucifer is his given name by God, meaning "light-bearer" in Latin and "Morning Star" in Roman. Satan is the "enemy" and the "adversary" in Latin. So they both refer to the same person.
