here is the answer but you wont like it......
every time you catch yourself telling a lie, during, or after the fact, go back to the person and tell them you werent honest and then explain you are trying to stop lying and you want to tell them the truth.
u have to do it regardless how severe the consequences will be, and you cant make exceptions....but it will work.

Its just become a habit. Mabe, you are a little insecure, that your conversation is not interesting enough. So you embellish. Lying to your parents has worked so you continue to do it. What are you afraid of? Dr Phil says you don't break a habit, you just replace the behavior with something new. Replace your lying with telling the truth. Take extra time before answering a question or giving and explaination. You do give the lie some thought right? Well give the truth some time to come out. Think Think Think before you speak. You can do it.

Telling the truth is a lot easier than lying, because you don't have to remember what lie you told and to whom you told what to.
Sometimes people lie because they are trying to be someone they are not. Just be yourself and people will like you for who you are.
It will be hard to stop lying, because it is a "habit" you've gotten into. Old habits are hard to break, but you at least have the desire to stop and that's the 1st step.
As soon as you realize you have lied about something - stop yourself and correct yourself. People will appreciate your sincerity and trust you much more.

I don't really know how you can stop, except for just to start out slow. Try being honest to your self first. Why are you lying? Is it your self esteem? Think about what you say before you say it. The main reason I wanted to reply though is because I know someone like you and not only is she miserable since nobody can trust her, but so is every one who loves her. YOUR LYING HURTS EVERYONE, NOT JUST YOU. If you are a Christian than why are you hurting yourself and others?

This sounds like desperate boredom, the need for a more colorful, more dramatic, more satisfying life. Think about what you'd like to happen in your real life and what you could do to have the real experiences that you want. Take steps in that direction. Consider writing the stories that you have such an urge to tell...maybe you have a narrative flair and a future in fiction.

Next time that you think about lying, ask yourself if this is the best thing to do. Lying is addicting sometimes. Just ask yourself if lying would be best because once you lie about something, you have to lie some more to cover it up.

go to court and have yourself cited for lying. (kidding)
try thinking things over carefully, and when you do, consider how complicated things can get when you lie, or how hurt people are when you lie to them.
but just remember that it's not always good to be completely honest and frank. sometimes, a white lie helps everyone.

I used to have the same problem. All you have to do is write it on your hand.
DO NOT LIE TODAY
And if you keep looking at that, you'll eventually stop completley because you always have a reminder!
