Things can go crazy at times when you do make purchases on line...if you'd want to make a purchase on line, you need to make sure that that site's certificates are authentic. By doing so, what I usually like to do before making any kind of purchase...Make sure the site has a BBB (Better Business Bureau) logo and link. Also you'd want to make sure the site's financial transactions softwares are of a legitimate source as well, like veri-sign, pay pal, etc. I personally don't like to buy things on line for I've worked security servers for a long time and I know too much about them to even think of releasing any of my demographics...once you do, you're bound to be on someone's spam mail listing. Unless you know the site's name is something you trust and that your familiar with, I wouldn't make any kind of transactions with them. Hope this helps.

If you shop from a reputed site you have less chances of being cheated.

There are 2 places in which other people can get your credit card information.

1. When ur typing ( using Keyloggers and torgans)
2. During transmission ( by packet capture etc)

All the pouplar sites use 128 bit encryption so ur safe from packet capture etc

Make sure that when u shop online you are doing from a safe system

never type your credit card number in Private Cyber Cafes. Things like Sify Iway and Relinace Web worlds wont allow people to install Keyloggers and stuff.

If you need further assistance in these matters get back to me

Yes definately. My uncle's gf had her credit card info stolen and luckly she and her bank caught it before anything was really bad. Plus, on the computer that is being used, there could be viruses or spyware that could take the information. Furthermore, the websites that you put in personal info (social security, credit info., passwords, etc.) can be on a phishing site (a fake site that looks "real") which is specifically designed to steal information like that. I recommend a good all around security such as Norton Internet Security with the Add-On Pack (free) for good protection.

Yes, it is. It is possible for hackers to intercept your credit card number. Make sure the shopping sites you go to are affiliated with a company you know well with a good reputation, and have a secure site. Whenever possible, use PayPal.

Exactly, it depends on the website. Say eBay, which is a scammers home ground.

Walmart should be fine, same with Amazon. Most websites to my knowlege encrypt your creditcard information in 128bit to protect it from being intercepted.
