No offense to anyone on here...but why do people believe in their horoscopes and worry about their sign being compatible with someone elses sign?...I don't think people should care so much...I think that getting to know the person is the only way to determine compatibility...What is so good about signs and horoscopes?

You are so correct about getting to know someone as being the way to determine compatibility.
BUT...
I have been a follower of astrology since childhood. There is little, if any, truth to the horoscopes published in your daily paper; if my "horoscope" told me to stay home on a particular day, I wouldn't let it stop me from going shopping :) However I think that getting to know the different signs of the zodiac has been invaluable to me in my various dealings with people close to me. These are just some examples...
If you want to get close to Leo, shower him/ her with praise and attention. Don't EVER try to change Scorpio's mind about anything, but Libra is always open to new concepts. Aquarians are more impressed with intellect than looks, and if a Pisces has a "feeling" about something, you'd do well to listen.
I could go on and on, but I think you get the basic concept. In the end though, it's how YOU relate to people and how they relate back to you. I'm curious as to what sign you are...I'm guessing it's an Earth sign :)

Hi,

I'm NOT watching my horoscopes, but long ago, i was with a magazine and i by curiosity watched our horoscope, just for fun because i just had known back then a man and was feeling he was the one just right for me. His side of the horoscope and mine were saying there was some marriage in the air. Well, even through i don't think i believe in horoscope (if not i would follow the little story every single day), that exact particular week revealed to be "true" or a "real good coincidence" at least. I kept this page in case and still have it. It just amused us to see what the horoscope said has been working for us. But, we didn't marry because of this horoscope, of course no.

But, my Husband's sign and mine were the kind of usually NOT making good union. And we didn't care about that, we married and the result has been more wonderful than expected, we got a very good marriage (now my Husband is recently deceased), but if not we still would be together. The fact he is gone reinforced my Love for him more than never. Thus, i'm glad we didn't mind what was said about our astrologic signs, because if not we would have missed the best experience of our life, the one to have each other as spouse.

Now, i think the things are much more complexed than most people do just reading their horoscopes and thinking about their signs. The investigation must be deeper, like where and when the both were born, etc.. With the numbers of divorces, maybe some persons also try to search a waranty when they really believe in astrology. Even through i don't really believe in it, they might be right if the investigation is well pushed with the details i gave above (where, when, the stars constellation, etc.).

Have a nice evening.

I went through a phase where I read my horoscope every day, and it honestly seemed like every day it came true!!

Then I realized that I was being very lenient about the events in which I believed were validating the horoscope of the day. Basically I was looking for something in my day that would make the horoscope true in my mind.

That being said, I guess it's all just how true you want to make it for yourself. I haven't looked at mine in a very long time, and if I do, it's just out of curiosity and fun.

On a side note, have you ever read The Onion horoscopes? They're really funny!! Check out www.theonion.com and go to their horoscopes link.

I do not believe in following your horoscope, but I got into doing numerology and what your basic zodiac means. I have found a deeper understanding of myself and others and how I am likely to relate to others as a result. It is good because if I know they are a certain sign and they act like what that sign says about them I have a better idea where things are headed. If it is headed towards red flags or hearts and flowers or anything in between.

Well personaly i am a big believer of it but i dont let it run my life ... my beliefs in it are simple .. because there is no exact formula for compatability we cannot really let it be our only guide. someone could spend forever getting "the perfect person" for them but in the end what are the chances of finding them without going through the experiances? i use it as a simple guide not a crutch.

and for once i think chain lightning has a sliver of of wisdom in there .. which is a change from just attacking astrology. do question everything .. find out what beliefs suit you .. if none so be it.

I agree with you, people shouldn't place any value on the horoscope or other astrology things. Human nature is not written in the stars. Does every other person born on the same day as me, no matter what year, always have the same likes and dislikes, personality traits, as well as goals and dreams?

I know a boy who had the same birthday as me. I don't think we could read a horoscope for our birthday and be even remotely close in having it fit our varied personalities.

Is there something wrong in wanting to know instead of believing?

There are unknowable things in this world that will stay that way forever. To me that is easy to accept. For others it is not. Astrology does not come naturally, some one has to tell you about it. Most people don't ask how and why; they go straight to accepting as fact. Have any doubt and your told that one needs an "open mind".
A problem of astrology is they can't be open minded that they can be wrong.

Question Everything.

I don't rule my life by the stars but have noticed over the years I get along with certain star signs so much better than others.

At 35, I have mostly Aquarian friends (I am one also). I get along well with Pisces and Aries. Saggitarius people are way cool.
Scorpios and me don't mix. Gemini's and Libra's are annoying.
Sometimes when you know the personality of a certain sign, it helps you understand their personality and why they are like they are. It is very interesting.

Horoscopes and signs are a way for some people to make a living. They sit in a dark room, read teen magazines and come up with whatever garbage comes to their minds.
I read my horoscope almost daily. I find it entertaining. There is nothing at all in them that would cause one to "believe in" them. They are random thoughts that are meant to entertain.
Feng shui on the other hand, is bankable. Make sure you have your fountain in the right place and just watch the money roll in. LOL!

Insofar as Astrology or any belief structure is concerned, why believe in anything that can't be proven by the rational mind? Why believe in love for that matter? Why not just call it infatuation and attatchment?

And for Astrology in particular, you seem to suffer from a rather simplistic understanding of what it is, and that's not so much different than most people who seem to care about it and many who believe in it.

What I am trying to say is when you go to all the trouble to be condescending, you ought to know the subject matter pretty well.
