I have a fairly new web site www.securitysaint.com I have been told to acquire all the domain names pertaining to my industry that I can. (for more traffic) Make them sub-domains directing to my existing site? Will this hurt me?
How will search engines view this?

Buying domains to bring additional traffic to a website is indeed one of the ways to get more traffic.

You can approach buying domains from two strategies:

- Buy dashed domain name for better rankings (e.g. keyword-keyword.com)
- Buy nondashed domains which have a higher type in rate that you will be sending traffic to domain.com on people mistyping your domain name.

Well, I know a lot of people buy a bunch of domains that relate to their site and get them to redirect to the main site, but personally, if I type something in and it redirects me, I am 80% more likely to get frustrated and just close the window.

I guess I feel deceived. haha
