Many companies offer an indestructible mailbox. I've included a link to Brookstone.

My friend bought one made from stainless steel, 1/4" thick! Nice powdercoated finish in white, so it looked like any other. We set a steel I-Beam into concrete (200 lbs in the hole) and molded a column with those cardboard tubes for piers up to the box. We covered it in cedar to look like a flimsy wood concoction. A week later two kids totalled their pickup after mowing down five boxes first! The mailbox was in excellent shape, only needed to replace the wood surround.

sink a 6-8 diameter pipe into the ground about 4 feet and fill with concrete and build a brick wall off a foundation around the pipe filling the insides with concrete also, and over your mailbox space, if they hit that it should be the last time. Or find a good 12 diameter tree and sink that into the ground.

I used some old bed rail and welded a frame around mine

It is tough enough that it makes their "bat" bounce back and hurts them .

Yes it can be reported and tecko it's a federal offence the problem is the little f'n creeps just get their hands slapped in court

I happened in my town in the 50's the state cop made the creeps pay to replace every single one

Yes it's a crime- report to post office and police department. Then build you one out of solid concrete, that ought to stop the little boogers. You could always vidoe tape them in action first

Not only can you report it to the post office, but you can also report the vandals to the police. Vandalism is vandalism.... but you pretty much have to know who's doing it.... or catch them in the act...
