I read a a post and it had me wondering, why does martin King have his own day but not a great man like George Washington, not to say King is not an important guy but c'mon. It all depends on your opinion.

I am not American, but I admire Martin Luther King Jr. so I think that he is more important.

I don't agree that Martin Luther King should have his own day. I am an African American and I don't believe that Martin Luther King was even a Christian man. Sure he fought for civil rights for African Americans and did it utilizing principles that came from the teachings of Jesus, but he never really preached Jesus Christ crucified to people, just civil rights. Washington was a great man, probably just as great or greater than Martin. The problem is not the men, but our society for trying to equalize the holidays that our society recognizes. Their had to be at least one day for the African Americans to shut us up. I don't observe the day in particular. Jesus Christs birthday is really the only day we need to celebrate as far as I am concerned.

George Washington doesn't need a ''Politically Correct " holiday, and perhaps you need to pick up a history book, which will make it abundantly clear who was/is more important.
