We live in the San Joaquin valley and have had no problem with the Japanes Maple that we have. We also get extremely hot during the summer, and can get below freezing in the winter. Out tree gets full afternoon sun and has done really well

I'm growing mine in hot inland Australia with care.

Mine grow in morning sun well as long as they get normal garden bed watering.

The very fine leafed varieties are inclined to be burnt by hot dry winds so the ones with a wider leaf point seem to be a bit more tolerant.

Plant them now and water regularly until established don't get water on the leaves or you'll burn them from the sun making a magnifying glass with them
