The chance to be a citizen for the foreign people are near to zero. However, one can only become a permanent resident after he lived in japan at least 5 years. Japan is a strict nation. There was once a person who married to a japanese girl, he applied for citizenship and it was denied.
Well, Japan is a jus sanguinis state, meaning that it recognizes citizenship by blood not by birth. Situations in which a person can become a Japanese national at birth are:
-When either parent is a Japanese national at the time of birth
-When the father dies before the birth and is a Japanese national at the time of death
-When the person is born on Japanese soil and both parents are unknown or stateless
These rules are very strictly applied, which often creates problems for unmarried non-Japanese mothers. In such cases, unless the Japanese father gives express recognition of paternity before the birth, the child is generally not recognized as a Japanese national

Best way is to be born there of Japanese parents, and that's not a joke. Getting citizenship is VERY hard, even for non-Japanese that are born there. Being born there does'nt get you automatic citizenship like it does here. It can take many years to get it there, if at all. Being married to a Japanese native is the fastest way. And even then it can take 5 or 6 years. And even then you will never be considered "Japanese".
Unless you have a great deal of money, and I mean ALOT, you just can't move there to live. A tourist visa is only good for 90 days. To get a work visa you need a job waiting for you there. Most all jobs require that you have a BA / BS degree. Most Americans living there teach English. You can't even work at a McDonalds unless you can speak, read and write as well as a native born Japanese. And few Americans can do this. It is very costly to live in Japan also. Rents are very high, and many landlords don't want to rent to a non-Japanese. I love Japan myself, but it's not an easy country to move to.

that's totally hard to alter right into a citizen. you're able to desire to have lived there a minimum of 5 years without smash. opportunities of changing right into a author ? 0. you're able to desire to have a minimum of a BA / BS degree to qualify for a artwork visa. And a job grant till now you get there. You export products, no longer human beings. each and every physique is deported. you're able to continually be recognised as a gaijin. whether you reside there a million years. you will continually be a gaijin. My strategies ? Drop the belief of shifting to Japan. Sorry..

Minimum 5 years of residency, financial solvency, making a positive contribution to society, adapting to the language/culture and ability to document oneself quite well, are among the requirements.
