What does you getting an mp3 player in march have anything to do with ripping a dvd to your computer? Did you just want to brag about getting one? so you just threw that bit of braggetry in there along with your question? Jeez! But it's cool you're getting an mp3 player in march and i'm guess that until then you're stuck watching dvds for your only entertainment, but, dang-it! now your friend want their dvds back on thursday. So you're thinking, man how am I gonna entertain myself from Thursday until March? Then a little light bulb goes off in your head 'Hey I can put my friends dvds on my computer and watch them until march but how do I do that?" Am I close? Okay... just kidding with ya! ;-) LOL!
Download DVDshrink, scan it for viruses, install it.
Open it.
Put the dvd you want to copy in the dvd drive (doesn't have to be a burner but does have to at least be a dvd player for ripping purposes).
Click Open Disk.
Click okay.
When the preview box goes away, Click Full Backup and save this in a folder of your choice. (you can add a 'new folder' by rightclicking your desktop and save it there or you can save it in your my videos folder.
When the program has finished taking off the copy protection, it will save the Audio TS folder (which is always empty) and the Video TS folder into the folder you specified. Now open the Video TS folder and click on the first file. As long as you have a dvd playing program on your computer, your movie has now been ripped to your hard drive and will now begin to play. Enjoy :-)

First off, do you have a DVD drive on your computer? It looks just like a CD drive, but it says DVD. If so, I would suppose you could save them as you would a CD, but if not, I have no clue.
