My experiance with Bluetooth follows...
Bluetooth in simplest terms to me is a short wireless signal and a way to send information of many kinds... bluetooth has defiatly evolved be for me...When using wireless headsets you have to pair the bluetooth device and the phone, once thats done you can make and recieve calls regulary by the touch of a button. but thats just the begining.. say you want to listen to your high quality audio file (mp3).. your recieving device must be "A2DP, AVRC" capable. Or you might want to send a picture to your friend in class.. your device muct now have "OBEX" -object exchange.. I once attended a convention & while showing someone my new Jabra jx10 I had my phone search for a device.. I found at least 35!!!.. i'm not as familiar with "BPP" (connecting with printers) or "HID" (connecting to a keyboard).. i know for sure there are many more profiles of bluetooth but dont know much about them...oh yeah, 30 feet is the "standard" range...however I found this not a good advertising feature.. thats 30 feet clear, no obstructions, even your hands swinging by your side will cause some interferance, for headsets it is recommended to wear the headset on the same side of the body as you do your phone. I know I'm gonna remember somethin after I close this up.. but the last thing I can say is bluetooth is not for everyone.. you have to a be some what tech savvy..

Evil! Ok..

Wireless short range communications radio. Developed by Ericsson, Nokia, and some other company and named after the Dutch king Bluetooth because he invented a communication method for international communication.

Used in cell phones, computers, PDAs and other portable electronic devices. Uses include wireless headsets, wireless dial up networking (DUN profile), Object transfer (files) which is the OBEX profile, wireless music listening (A2DP also called Stereo Bluetooth).

And I hate it when people refer to their Bluetooth headsets as their "blue tooth". Bluetooth is the technology, the device is a headset.

Bluetooth is an industrial specification for wireless personal area networks (PANs). Bluetooth provides a way to connect and exchange information between devices such as mobile phones, laptops, PCs, printers, digital cameras and video game consoles via a secure, globally unlicensed short-range radio frequency.
