I have worked with many workers who smoke. They perform 1/2 to 3/4 of the work a non smoker performs. The spend the day planning their 5 to 6 30 minute breaks. When they come back from lunch, they smoke a cigarette for about 15 min before they go back into work. Why you ask, well because they are addicted and their bodies are disease ridden and are generally angry and smell bad.

I don't smoke, but I work with a few smokers and they carry the same workload as the rest of us. What a stupid, sweeping statement. - and BTW - NONE of the smokers I work with sit down more OR ask for more breaks than we all get.

All that back/forth walking to smoke a cigarette during the work day gets tiring. Move the smoking area back to the office, and smoker productivity will increase, mhm.

because of the way smoking deteriorates the lungs, smokers end up getting less oxygen and also their bodies have to spend more energy to fight off illnesses. Both of these result in less energy.

That's a stereo-type.

Many smokers are great workers--they do need to get their breaks to go somewhere that smoking is allowed, though.
