Maybe the activists want a policy change to happen in the next 10 years. The environmental doomsdays are melting icecaps (by 2100), shortage of fish (by 2048), and shortage of oil (by 2037). I believe these are real dangers. There is a lot of debate about when exactly these will happen, or if they qualify as "The End of the World". Also, the Doomsday Clock for nuclear war (5 minutes to midnight) is symbolic and in Chicago. It recently had global warming added to the list of things considered, but that just makes it even more symbolic and less useful.

The climate has been changing for four billion years. Why does it have to be caused by CO2? Because the government then has an excuse to slap us with a bunch of environmental carbon taxes. Suppose that climate change is caused by fluctuations in the sun's heat output. What are the politicians going to do, put a tax on the sun?
The scientists who sell global warming are paid with grant money from the government. They are just as biased as those scientists who are funded by oil companies.

Well, the world has to end sometime. If you didn't know, eventually the sun will run out of hydrogen and engulf the planet at the end of it's life. That's science for you. I say who cares when the world ends, there's no point in worrying about it and wasting the possible time with stress. Its one of those things people don't think will happen but worry about at the back of their minds, so I suggest stop worrying now!!

No! There may be some terrible things in the next few years. Maybe even nuclear wars, envirnmental disaster, economic collapse, social upheavel - but none of these things, as bad as they are, can cause the end of the world, the end of humankind, or the end of civilization.
And all of the aformentioned events are preventable.

In that clock no I do not. I do believe that if things keep going the way they are, Our kids and their kids won't have much to work with. Just go to your local and world news. We are all going to
be dead long before that clock hits 0.

I believe the end is near, like everybody else. I doubt some guy like that is going to know beforehand, though.
