no, it was CAPTAIN BARBOSSA. watch the first movie (pirates of the caribbean: the curse of the black pearl) and you'll find out. but i'll explain him briefly:
he was apart of capt. jack's crew that muntinied on jack sparrow and took over the ship. then barbossa became captain of the black pearl for about 10 years. he and his crew left capt. jack on a god-forsaken bit of land with nothing but a name and the words of barbossa. and thats why capt. jack hates barbossa. however, in the end of the first movie, it is appears that Barbossa is killed...so thats why it's so surprising to see him come back in the second movie.
(and the guy you're talking about [the one with his son and the dice game etc.] is Bootstrap Bill, Will Turner's father)

Well, I forgot his name but it was the captain of the Black Pearl in the first movie. Hopefully you already seen the movie, but sometimes it hard to forget if you didn't see the movie in a while. My mom seen the first movie at least 20 times and still didn't know the guy walking down the steps, but she has bad memory so hopefully that's your excuse.

Captain Barbosa who was in the first Pirates movie.
Next time pay attention to the movie. If possible watch the first one then watch the second one it really helps.

I don't think anyone can rightfully answer this. I don't know if your asking this because you've seen it and you're testing people (which I doubt) or if you want to know because you haven't seen it, but I think that it would be "cheating" in a sense to tell you. You have to see the movie and take it all in. You can't just know the answers. It's like reading the end of the book first: you just can't do it!
