If you break these two processes down to their basic chemical equations you will see that they are essentially the reverse of one another. Consider the following

Photosynthesis:
6 CO2 + 6 H2O + light (a form of energy) ---> C6H12O6 + 6 O2

Cellular respiration:
C6H12O6 + 6 O2 ---> 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + energy

they aren't, really... photosynthesis is like the cell "eating" respiration is "breathing" Huge chemical difference.
