I rarely drink (once a month). I am healthly with normal blood pressure. During a recent outing to a club, I sustained a temporary blackout after one drink of vodka + cranberry. I remember losing consicousness, being escorted out of the club, and finally I was able to sit myself against the sidewalk to compose myself. After putting my head between my legs for about 2 minutes, I started to regain control of my senses. Another 3 minutes later, I was feeling absolutely normal. From the moment that I was sensing my loss of consciousness until the time I was fully alert was about a 7 minute span.
Anybody have any idea what might possibly have caused this? This has never happened to me before when I drink vodka + cranberry. I did not have an empty stomach and I was feeling perfectly normal until this 7 minute period.

Blackouts are sometimes never explained, it comes mainly from an intolerance to alcohol.
Im an alcoholic in recovery, and before i quit drinking 3 years ago id black out after 3-4 beers, and whiskey even less.
I have type 2 diabetes and borderline high blood pressure.
I also consume great amounts of liquids during the day, they also tell me that because i do my body actually is able to process liguids faster and thus i get drunk quicker.
Its dangerous, you can becoem 2 different people and also be taken advantage of, I was able to drive, scary, I should be dead, but im glad i was able to egt help and enjoy a life today free of alcohol.
Im not saying your an alcoholic, but if this is happening to you, please be careful, as you get older the problem will get worse for you. It did me!!
Pls IM me if you wish to discuss anything.

This is a normal side effect of drinking too much. I am terrified that you aren't more concerned about it. Imagine how many people you can kill during that time and not remember you did it. Or how many times you can make a fool out of yourself and not remember it, which is very common. Social drinking isn't so bad, but you have to know your limit. Clearly, you exceeded it. Did you enjoy the blackout and the hangover afterwards? If not then don't ever, ever drink that much again! The effects of alcohol differ from person to person, and by what they drink and how much they had to eat before hand. Just because your friends are drinking doesn't mean that you have to keep drinking. Learn your limit and know when to say, "No, I think I have had enough." Some people will ridicule you for it, but that's because they are drunken fools that don't know their own limits. Find them just when they start to sober up and shout at them, "HOW WAS YOUR NIGHT, DO YOU THINK YOU MIGHT HAVE HAD TOO MUCH TO DRINK." Of course the hard-core drinkers may still be drunk. I have known people who drank all week and came into work that Monday still drunk. You have a choice either take this as a sign to learn what your limits are, or become a drunken fool that ends up killing people while DWI. Just go easy on the drinking from now on please.

Did you pass-out or black-out, BIG difference. If you passed out you could of had a pre-existing condition (exhaustion, cold, flu) that the alcohol enhanced or your drink might have been tampered with. When you have an alcohol induced BLACKOUT you remain conscious but you just don't remember what happened or what you did, this is usually a symptom of alcohol abuse or the body telling you that you probably have an allergy to alcohol.

You've developed a low level for alcohol toxicity. Actually that's lucky that you've found out with one drink, b/c if you'd been binge drinking it very well could have been fatal.
I recommend you switch to non alcoholic drinks and not risk your life over something so worthless as alcohol. You can still go out and still buy a drink and socialize; it doesn't have to have alcohol in it and you don't have to risk your health or life.

I can't really say why it happened, but if I were you, I would switch to Virgin drinks. in order words, mixed drinks with out the alcohol. Your body is trying to tell you that you shouldn't drink. Listen to it, you will be better off. Who knows what will happen the next time.
