You have a bad air lock in the pipe work or the boiler pump is not working. If you have a drain off point down stairs, Let the water run out. If the water is clean, you still have an airlock. Let it run until the water is dark or even black then turn the drain off point off. Then bleed radiators and check water pressure. If it still doesn't work then the pump must be the problem

sounds like your boiler needs a new pump (£££) or you could just have a lot of air in your system, try bleeding your radiators regularly, then after a bit if you find that the bottom of your radiators are hot but the tops are cold, then that is your answer, keep doing it until you have heat in them all the way to the top and everything will be cool.

Try bleeding them easy to do just get a "bleeding Key" from B&Q and insert into the tap at the top of the radiator to release the air
the radiator should then warm

all good answers. but are you sure you have gas to heat the watrer in your boiler?
is your boiler on?
does it simply need you to press the reset button on the boiler?
are the valves on the radiators set correctly?
is the water on and flowing through the pipes to get heated by your boiler?
finally as others have said bleedingt your radiators may be needed. if you are in rented accomaodation you should contact your landlord for them to arrange for the serviceing as any damage you do could cost you quite a lot of money to fix.

do you have a thermostat or timer?
if so is it set to automatic and not manual?
if automatic try changing it to manual and see if the radiators start to warm up if so then it is a fault with your control panel and you need to get it replaced.

if in doubt consult a professional.

these are just my common sense starting points to try before you call out a professional. no offense to any professionals out there but if like me you are on a low income calling an engineer out for a simple problem is both expensive for you and a waste of time to the engineer for which the real cowboy engineers would penalise you for by ripping you off.

good luck.

sounds like you have air getting into the system try bleeding your radiators there should be a small valve at the top of each radiator, start with the ones down stairs and finish with the last in line upstairs usualy the one in the bathroom.
